In 2020, PNP TUNE achieved a milestone in Europe: Homologating several Harley-Davidson E4 114 chassis types in Switzerland. The approved mapping allows you to enjoy the manufacturer's best engine capabilities while adhering to federal limits for power, noise, and NOX pollution. Approved exhausts are the perfect combination for a 100% Road-Legal Harley-Davidson in Switzerland. The homologation of the Harley-Davidson 114e4PNP1 Stage 1 is recorded on the registration card.

THE NETWORK
Since 2017, Poivre Noir SA has been the first European company specializing in American motorcycles to independently market their engine optimization expertise to manufacturer dealers.

STOCK MOTORCYCLES
During leisurely rides and when overtaking is necessary, bikers must focus on their engine to increase their speed by downshifting to ensure a proper trajectory.

Depending on manufacturer settings, current standards, and fuel quality, factory engine tuning algorithms often exhibit comfort variations at different engine speeds.

The throttle grip doesn't always open to 100% regardless of the engine speed, even when fully open. Ignition and engine advance are algorithmically constrained to allow the combustion of fuels like e5_102, e5_100, e5_98, e10_95.

On the road, at 70 km/h in 5th or 6th gear with the throttle fully open, acceleration occurs by choking the engine. The engine doesn't find its momentum right away, and its torque curve drops to be replaced by power to reach high engine speeds, often requiring downshifting one or two gears.

Bikers who want to stay Match-Number can opt for a PRIME stage while keeping a completely stock motorcycle.

Bikers looking to increase the torque and power of their engine can choose an open-type KN extreme-flow filter to appreciate the intake sound and filtration quality to maximize air filling of the engine.

Depending on the brands, it is recommended to use Iridium (high-performance) spark plugs sold by motorcycle dealers.

We advise against riding with variable exhausts in closed mode unless the brand you have selected has an automatic opening function in case of high engine temperature.

We have observed that bikers looking to maximize the power and sound of their Harley Davidson often install an extreme-type air filter and very short exhausts, sometimes even empty.

The intake resonance will automatically modify the engine mapping behavior; the motorcycle may have some imperfections in engine progressiveness.

This type of equipment is not recommended, as it is too mechanically antithetical.

We refuse to improve motorcycles that have an engine tuning that does not comply with manufacturer safety instructions; most of the time, these adjustments result from the installation of a freely downloadable automation unit, and the safety tables are sometimes offset, making them inactive.

Engines that have undergone this type of tuning have experienced premature wear.

No one can talk about a peppered motorcycle if they've never tried one ;)

ROTRONIC DYNAMOMETER
A dynamometer measures power at the "wheel" (whp) using a force sensor on a roller.

Once the run is complete, the operator puts the gearbox in neutral, and the dynamometer measures the speed at which the wheel and roller slow down to determine "engine" power (hp).

In a "perfect and frictionless" world, the wheel, once launched, would not change speed, and "wheel power" would be equal to "engine power." However, motorcycle gears, the tire, the chain or belt, and the moving parts of the dynamometer generate friction, and the wheel inevitably slows down as the reading progresses. This is what is called transmission loss.

On a motorcycle, transmission loss is generally between 10 and 15%, meaning that 100 hp at the wheel gives between 110 and 115 hp at the engine.

Manufacturer's advertised power figures are always given "at the engine" and not at the wheel because during development, engine power is measured on a specific engine dynamometer without a gearbox or transmission.
